This one-week, 40-hour intensive seminar addressed information organization for the web, especially techniques for developing information architecture for a content collection and implementing it on the web. Topics covered included content analysis and strategy, metadata structure and creation, site navigation, relating content via metadata, and consistent implementation of IA across user experiences on the web or in person.

The class was structured as a competition between student groups for an imaginary website consulting contract, with presentations on the final day, when one would be selected as the “winner” of the contract. My primary contribution was the discussion of taxonomy and navigation, which was called out as the main strength of our presentation when my group was selected as the winner.
