This interdisciplinary project brought together representatives of the UW iSchool with students from the museology program to analyze metadata schemes in place at museums and derive a comprehensive structure for description of museum objects. The resulting schema encompassed 206 elements, both individual and common across institutions, for describing artworks, animal specimens, cultural artifacts, and all the other objects that museums collect.
Along with my participation in analysis and discussion, my role in the seminar included implementing the resulting schema as an object set, with two supporting SKOS vocabularies, in the Open Metadata Registry.
