XML/XSL-T Structure for BC Ski Resort Website
Virtually all work for this class was contained within the instructor’s proprietary instructional tool interface, so products mostly unavailable to display. The class addressed “concepts and methods used to analyze, store, manage, and present information and navigation. Equal weight given to understanding structures and implementing them. Topics include information analysis and organizational methods as well as XML and metadata concepts and application.” Most work was exercise-based, with instruction from short videos hosted on YouTube.
These products suggest learning about definition of discrete elements of information, defining their logical structure in XSD schemas, creating conforming data instances in XML, and manipulating those for display via XSL transformations. Learning from the class also included significant adaptation to an occasionally cantankerous proprietary and completely unfamiliar distance learning tool created by the instructor — a learning curve within the learning curve of the course content.
Course Products: XML instance, XSL-T stylesheet, resulting HTML page.
